Nancy Burke grew up wondering what went on behind the scenes in government. She studied political science, walked door-to-door reminding people to vote, and got to write herself onto the ballot for an extremely local position in which her main task was to attend a pancake breakfast and raise her hand a few times. She retired from public service four years later in favor of a job that paid for more than one meal. She now lives near Washington, D.C., the perfect location from which to craft elaborate conspiracies.
